I have tons of stuff I should be doing but I don't wanna. Not functioning well in general.
I always get like this at this time of year, and I usually blame SAD, but I wonder how plausible that is, considering I'm only at like 30 degrees north of the equator. What the hell would I do if I lived farther north? Hibernate?
(Un)fortunately retail therapy helps, so I've been going on spending sprees, mostly online. This is good for filling my Christmas shopping list, but bad for my budget.
I'm going to go stare at the talking box until I feel like I can sleep. |

It was a good show, particularly considering the guys hadn't played all together in a month of Sundays, and they only had two rehearsals.
The majority of the audience out back seemed to be there for PM, though Eyes Burn Electric had a decent turnout as well. The opening act - the name of which I never caught - was a bunch of 17-year-olds that were incredibly tight and obviously very well-funded. Their moms were all in the front row. It was sweet.
The vaunted Plow Monday Curse struck Bobbo's bass rig, which apparently ceased to function, but the curse was defeated with aplomb, the offending equipment bypassed and the show went on.
Roberta and I both got some footage that will hopefully hit YouTube soon - I'll provide links if it happens. The highlights of the show were probably the infamous cover of Pink Floyd's "Have A Cigar" - which has become a PM standard and kind of kicks the ass of the original - and the closing number, which was, as always, "Disco Stu" and instigated much booty-shakin'.
There were some notables in the crowd; at least three chiefs-of-staff to state legislators were there (obviously, one of them was on stage) and I heard our old buddy Matt Noveskey from Blue October turned up, though I never saw him. (He was also in Ryan's other project, A+ Machines, and I think they still do stuff together on the side when BO isn't on tour.) Didn't see any of the guys from Wartime Social, which I was kind of bummed about, but they were probably all playing in other groups anyway.
So yeah. Acquitted well and probably not going to try this again for another year or so - though, for a change, the summation of the show was not so much "Now we remember why we don't do this anymore" as "That was fun, let's do it again sometime."Current Mood: satisfied

I have the refrain from "The Cremation of Sam McGee" stuck in my head and it will NOT go away.
It wouldn't be so bad if I could remember all of the rest of the poem. I guess I'll have to go read it.
Incidentally, know this happens to other people with music, but does it happen to anyone else with poetry/short fiction/novels/other lit? I don't know that I've heard anyone else talk about having a passage of a book stuck in their head, the way people will go on about having a song yadda yadda. Am I a freak? |

Which as we all know is not, in fact, the proper order, because DISCO STU COMES LAST.

Mysterious blue spiral light over Norway appears to punch hole in sky:

Going theory is that it was a Russian missile test that went awry. Gotta wonder what they're doing with the Hadron right now though. |

For those who might care but haven't heard - Plow Monday is rehearsing even as we speak for a show this weekend - 9:30 pm on Saturday at the Red Eyed Fly.
This is the full band, performing all your favorite Plow Monday tunes, and you can also catch Ryan's current project, Eyes Burn Electric.
EDIT: Revised schedule - Plow Monday will now be going on at 10:30. |

Alice was playing in the bath. She picked up her little Thomas the Tank Engine squirting toy, looked seriously into his face, and said - in a tone of pleasant greeting - "Oh, hello, Thomas! Did you get a haircut?"
